Divorce

Over a few weeks there was a lot of drama over this unit. A couple had divorced some time ago and the unit was rented when they were still married. There were disagreements about who was really in charge of the unit and it had gone to lien and was about to be auctioned off. After the whole mess and drama and disputes, they finally settled things and got what they wanted out the unit and abandoned what neither party wanted.
This is what was left behind...
For the most part, it was junk. Remnants of everyday things.
Bags of old clothes.
Some old crutches and some blinds.
I opened up a toolbox and found a set of security bits. They looked like they had never been used. But, like most tools I find, my manager wants us to keep at the store.
Some graffiti on the old desk.
Surprisingly, I found some old PS2 games in the drawers. Unfortunately, they were all scratched up and would be unusable.
I had to make a second trip to throw this desk away.
As I was lifting one of the boxes into the dumpster, the bottom fell out. There were some more severely scratched video game discs and cables. Also some burned CDs and DVDs. Surprisingly under that pile were some brand new wrenches (again this was left at the store). I did get a 6 ft. HDMI cable out of it all, though.
Here is the unit left empty. What once might have meaning is gone now. The things left behind didn't have much value, at least not to the couple who abandoned them and probably not to any other observer. However, there was a sad, or solemn, feeling cleaning out the unit, knowing that it was all that remained of that relationship, and I was the one who threw the last bits of it away.
